A local tradie has had a week he’d rather forget.
Last Thursday, heartless thieves broke into his trailer parked outside a property in Cape Woolamai.
Approximately $3000 worth of tools were stolen.
The following day, driving home from a job, his Land Rover caught fire on the highway near Bass and was destroyed.
The tradie, who preferred to remain anonymous, will now need to replace both his car and tools.
The theft is the latest in a series of robberies targeting vehicles and trailers and is a timely reminder of the importance of keeping tools and trailers safely stored. In July police said there had been a number of thefts across the island, mainly from vehicles and trailers.
At the time, Acting Senior Sergeant Colin Shepherd urged local tradies to “lock cars and keep trailers and tools safely garaged”.
“Don’t leave tools unattended, unlocked or out in the street.”
