Phillip Island U18 Girls fight hard in elimination final
Every player gave 100 per cent effort
Phillip Island's U18 girls produced a determined and courageous performance in their elimination final against Warranor in Warragul.
Despite missing six players and having no interchange bench available, the Islanders displayed outstanding resilience, intensity and commitment from the opening bounce until the final siren.
Every player gave 100 per cent effort and made valuable contributions throughout the contest.
Phillip Island remained competitive against a strong Warranor side, with Jaylah Louridge, Maddy Leed and Gemmah Fischer all finding the goals.
Their efforts helped keep the Islanders within striking distance, but Warranor's greater numbers ultimately proved decisive.
Among Phillip Island's best players were Lily "Elbow" Bow, Ruby Kent, Maddy Leed, Sera Szymanski, Lerah Schonewille and Tess Ricardo, all of whom played important roles throughout the match.
Sadie Davies was particularly impressive, throwing herself into every contest and proving to be a tackling machine as she continually applied pressure to the opposition.
Although the result did not fall Phillip Island's way, the players can be immensely proud of the courage, determination, and team spirit they showed under difficult circumstances.
Their willingness to battle until the end was a testament to the character of the group and an excellent reflection of the club.
