Phillip Island and Korumburra face off in intense U17 match

This week our 17s were up against top of the ladder team Korumburra-Bena.

The first half of the game showed how strong and cohesive this team really is.

Still missing Lily, we were lucky to have Aisha step in and together with Meika they worked beautifully in goals.

Maya showed her usual incredible determination and strength in the mid-court and was supported well by Isla, Sienna, Tilly, and Jazz.

Ruby was a standout in circle defence this week with Sophia also showing her talent in reading the play and fighting hard for every ball.

With plenty of turnovers being converted into goals and great defensive pressure both up and down the court, we were convincingly in front at halftime.

Unfortunately for us, Korumburra rose to the challenge and with a few player changes, managed to push themselves back into the game.

In another nail-biting finish, Korumburra managed to win the game by one goal.

The game clearly shows this team’s potential and the close finish has given them the determination to fight harder next time!
