Grit and determination against local rivals - C Grade

The girls were up for a hard game on Saturday with conditions not in their favour with rain settling in for most of the four quarters.

The first half of the game had island defenders working hard especially Chloe Moxey with her high jumps and great reading of the play, which paid off and aided us to a lead going into half time.

The third quarter presented a challenge with the rain making it slippery underfoot, however Nikki, Tori and Karina worked well as a team to work the ball into our shooters.

Paired against tall strong defenders our Goal Shooters rose and Lawri had to move quickly in order to win the ball but unfortunately by three quarter time we had fallen behind.

Going into the last quarter coach Jodie had the great idea of moving Lawri from shooter to goal defence to give us some extra height and sending young gun Ruby into goals.

This smart decision helped us to get within 10 points however wasn’t quite enough to get us up by the end of the game.

Best on court: Poppy Marshall, Rose van Rooy.
