Intense matchup: Island take on the Daly Magpies - Under 17

A glorious sunny winter’s day set the scene for another grand final rematch against Dalyston.

After a hard fought two-point win last time the girls faced them, it was obvious this would be another tough battle.

The first quarter saw the team come out fighting, winning the quarter 9-6 but Dalyston hit back in the second quarter taking the lead 16-18.

The high intensity and fast pace of the game saw two of the girls take tumbles in the third quarter and were sent off for the blood rule resulting in a number of position changes.

This didn’t deter the girls who continued to fight and take back a two-point lead.

Fourth quarter was yet another nail biter.

Both sides working hard in defence which sent the ball flying up and down the court with very few goals achieved.

As the siren went, we could all breathe a sigh of relief with Phillip Island defeating Dalyston 31-30.
