The Rhyll Boomerang Bag Group have just been received a $4500 a grant from Bass Coast Shire Council, thanks to the assistance of the Rotary Club of Phillip Island.

The grant will allow the sewing group to purchase new equipment to assist with their various projects.

The ladies have been busy making extra-large bags to ship the woollen toys and items they have created for Aussie knitting for War Affected Kids. This is an Australian and International Group committed to helping children affected by conflict.

The Australian Syrian Association of Victoria (ASAVic) send a container of aid directly into Syria each year attempting to enrich the lives of mothers and children who live in refugee camps.

Sandra Inness from Rhyll said: “We’ve been making articles and collecting items for two years and we are now ready to send our contribution. These mothers and children are innocent but unfortunately bear the brunt of war.”

The Rhyll Boomerang Bag Group would like to thank the fantastic ongoing support from South Coast Furnishings and Cotton On Craft who continually assist their projects.

“We’d also like to acknowledge the continued support from our local Rotary Club of Phillip Island and San Remo who donate materials and provide us with a premises in which our volunteers work,” said Sandra.
