Soccer’s Derby Day match: Penguins vs Stingrays

U14 Penguins
It was the U14s Breakers Derby, Penguins vs Stingrays, and both teams played a fantastic match.

The Stingrays scored the first goal, but the Penguins responded quickly and answered with a goal of their own. Half time score was in favour of the Penguins, 3-2.

The second half saw the Stingrays come out firing again to quickly bring the score to three all.

It was goal for goal from there and with a few minutes left in the match the scores were tied four all.

An amazing header by Flynn Jury in the final minute of the match saw the Penguins take the win.

Well done to all players, and Happy Father’s Day to the dads.

U12B Sharks
The Sharks had an exciting home game against Korrumburra for their final match of the season, finishing the year in style with a fantastic win.

The team swapped positions around, giving some players the chance to experience goalkeeping and striking, with great results.

Fantastic goals from Flynn, Jordan, Zac, Henry and Benji, along with some brilliant saves from first-time goalkeepers Rocky and Max, helped the Sharks to a triumphant victory.

The players voted for their all-round performers, with Jordan and Bentley receiving Man of the Match honours for their fantastic final game of the year.

The Sharks have had a wonderful season, building strong teamwork, developing great sportsmanship and, most importantly, making some fantastic friendships along the way.

We wish all the Sharks the very best for their future years at the Phillip Island Breakers.

U12A Penguins
The Phillip Island Breakers U12A gritted it out in the cold against Wonthaggi for the last game of the fixture.

Wonthaggi struck early to take the lead, but the Breakers responded well.

Strong defensive efforts and teamwork from the Breaker’s back line and midfield kept the pressure on pushed play back towards the Island's attacking end.

Lincoln levelled the scores at 1-1 and soon twice nearly added another, narrowly missing from a free kick before hitting the post following lovely combination play with Ryder.

The second half started strongly for the Breakers, with goals from Woody and Marlo.

Wonthaggi answered after a brilliant initial save from Arlo, and then soon added again making it 3-3.

As the clock wound down, the Breakers rose.

Tyler's pass as goalkeeper that found its way to Elliott then Banksia’s bullet kick to make it a win before the welcome final whistle.
