Summer soccer program
Update from the Phillip Island Soccer Club
The Phillip Island soccer club is running a social competition for players under the age of 18 in Term 4.
We will be using a Go Football program, running a 5-a-side competition.
Registration will be through gofootball.com.au. Select Phillip Island from the pick your location menu and follow the registration steps.
The competition will run for eight weeks beginning on Thursday, October 22 at Newhaven Recreation Reserve.
Game times will be at 5pm and 6pm
The age groups offered will be:
U8s (2012 and 2013 born).
U11s (2011, 2010 and 2009 born).
U14s (2006, 2007 and 2008 born).
U17s (2003, 2004 and 2005 born).
It will be a mixed competition, so we encourage both boys and girls to register.
Players will need soccer/football boots and shin guards are essential.
We need a minimum of 24 players to run each age group.
Should you require more details please email phillipislandsoccer@gmail.com
The cost of the competition will be $40.
We are running this competition at a low cost as we want to support the families in our community who may have been financially affected by the COVID-19 restrictions.
As a community, family-based club we want to provide access to a social competition that is accessible to all abilities and experience.
After such an extended time without school and organised sport we hope this competition can help to improve the physical and emotional wellbeing of the participants.
We want to re-engage with the soccer community and rebuild social bonds in our community.
The club has received a number of grants this year which enables us to offer the lower cost.
We were lucky enough to receive a grant from Vic Health earlier this year which was to help us run a social competition.
We also received the Covid Survival grant from Sport Rec Victoria which enabled the club to buy sanitisers and other hygiene materials which will help us run a Covid safe club.
We will be following Football Victoria’s return to play guidelines and working in conjunction with Bass Coast Shire Council to ensure we follow all the correct procedures in regard to Covid restrictions.
Once players are registered, we will email participants the guidelines to follow.
If you have any enquiries about this competition please email phillipislandsoccer@gmail.com or call Andrea on 0401824252.
