U13s battle the elements in LDNA

U13 Red

In shocking conditions, the Island's Red went up against Fish Creek White in a game that demonstrated how tough and resilient players are.

From the first whistle the Island's midcourt delivered their strong game plan in both attack and defence and settled well into the slippery court conditions, allowing for smooth play down to the goals.

The second quarter saw Aliza and Madison team up again in goals, showcasing their ability to read not only the game but each other's movements as if in a choreographed dance.

They were backed up with the support of a strong, determined and blistering midcourt attack by Ella and Hazel who flew around the court as if powered by the howling wind, the Red girls continued to sink goal after goal as the wind and torrential rain hammered down.

As the ball became increasingly slippery and both teams began to struggle with the cold, the Island's Red found unwavering strength and dug deep to continue, securing a nice lead into the final quarter.

With Alexis and Miranda holding the defence line in the oppositions goal third, their teamwork and ability to read the ball allowed for continued rejection of Fish Creek's attempts at goals.

With multiple outstanding intercepts by Sophia in the final quarter, Phillip Island were able to deliver a solid win.

Scores: Phillip Island Red: 17 def Fish Creek White: 7.

Best on court: Ella and Hazel.

U13 White

On a chilly winter's morning, the Island's White took on Meeniyan.

The team battled the elements, pushing them physically and mentally.

It was a tough game against a tall team and although the Island couldn't get points on the scoreboard this week they worked efficiently and played a strong game.

Scores: Phillip Island White: 8 def by Meeniyan: 23.

Awards: Evie, Indi and Marley.

U13 Blue

The Island faced off against Saint Lawrence Netball Club in the pouring rain.

The team were four players out and had to play one player down for the game.

Despite this, the girls worked hard as a team in the horrible conditions.

All the girls deserved kudos for their efforts, India and Bonnie worked well together in defence.

Lulu, Paige and Evie kept the ball moving down the court, along with a special mention to Ruby Pedersen who was the sole shooter for half the game.

Scores: Phillip Island Blue: 7 def by SLNC Maroon: 11.

Best on court: Ruby Pedersen and Lulu Van Der Walt.
