Community Awards

The 2023 Victorian Community History Awards are now open for entries.

The Community History Awards celebrate the people and groups involved in history projects that tell local stories which help all Victorians to better understand their past.

The categories include: Victorian Premier's History Award ($5000 prize); Collaborative Community History Award ($2000); Local History Project Award ($2000); History Publication Award ($2000); Small .History Publication Award ($1500); Small Organisation History Project Award ($1500); Community Diversity Award ($1500); Digital Storytelling Award ($1500); Historical Interpretation Award ($1500); Oral History Award presented in collaboration with Oral History Victoria ($1500); History Article Award ($500); Judges' Special Prize ($500)

New funds for local sport

The latest round of the government s Sporting Club Grants Program is now open.

The grants program s focus is supporting and building the capacity of sports volunteers in vital roles   from administration to coaching and umpiring.

Grants of up to $1000 are available for uniforms, equipment and resources that improve accessibility and engagement; up to $2000 for projects to strengthen volunteering and officiating; up to $4000 to deliver a new sport or recreation program and up to $750 to support athlete travel.

Sports grants for First Nations athletes

The latest round of the Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program, which provides grants for travel, uniforms, equipment and participation in sports carnivals, is now open.

The program offers grants of up to $2500 per junior team and $1500 per senior team towards travel and accommodation costs for participating in Victorian or national Aboriginal sporting carnivals and tournaments, as well as up to $1000 to cover team uniforms and sports equipment.

Eligible individuals can access up to $250 per person to purchase sporting uniforms and equipment, and up to $750 for travel and accommodation expenses.

Shopfront Improvement Rebate

Bass Coast Shire Council's Shopfront Improvement Rebate programs is back with round three.

There is $50,000 in the latest budget for businesses to improve vibrant and attractive streets, shops, and public spaces.

Grants of up to $2000 will assist eligible businesses to refresh their shopfront to improve the vibrancy of individual shops, stimulate economic growth and enhance the look and feel of local commercial districts.

Applications close Sunday November 19.
